Székesfehérvár – A Brief Visit to Hungary's Royal Past

Székesfehérvár was once one of the most important cities in the Kingdom of Hungary. For centuries, Hungarian kings were crowned here, and many were buried in its great royal basilica, including Stephen I, Hungary's first king.

The basilica no longer stands, but its remains can still be seen at the National Memorial, close to the historic centre. We'll spend around 45–60 minutes walking through the old town, with its Baroque buildings, pedestrian streets and attractive squares.

The Orb – A Royal Symbol

In Town Hall Square stands the Országalma, or Orb, one of Székesfehérvár's best-known monuments. Its shape comes from the royal orb, one of Hungary's coronation regalia, alongside the Holy Crown and sceptre. The monument was erected in 1943 to commemorate the city's historic privileges and its importance as a coronation city. We'll also see the Bishop's Palace before continuing to Agárd.

Agárd Thermal Spa – The Highlight of the Day

The thermal water comes from approximately 1,000 metres below ground, reaching the surface at around 58°C. It's cooled before entering the pools, where you can enjoy it at comfortable bathing temperatures. Don't expect the grand architecture of Budapest's historic baths. Agárd is a modern spa, with indoor and outdoor pools and green spaces where you can take a break between dips.

Warm Thermal Pools Throughout the Year

Even in winter, you can sit in warm thermal water while the air outside is cold.

Agárd's outdoor thermal pool operates throughout the year, with water usually around 32–34°C. There is also an indoor medicinal pool at approximately 35–36°C.

Other facilities include family adventure pools with water features, although some operate only at weekends or during the warmer months.

Three Hours at the Spa

You'll have three hours to enjoy Agárd Thermal Spa at your own pace. Spend your time in the warm pools, relax between dips or stop for something to eat.

Sauna facilities are available as an optional extra, for an additional charge.

After your time at the baths, your driver-host will take you directly back to your accommodation in Budapest.
